New Car Shines: Third in Efficiency and a Top-Five Finish at FS Austria

Our team achieved a significant success at the FS Austria race held at the famous Red Bull Ring near Spielberg, Austria. The brand new concept of our car took the student team to third place in the efficiency discipline and fifth place overall among 38 teams with electric single seaters.

The first day was devoted to preparations, loading materials and above all the vehicle itself, so that our team could set off for Austria around midday. After an uneventful journey, we arrived at a campsite near the Red Bull Ring where temporary facilities had been set up.

Sunday was marked by the first technical inspections at the campsite. Although there were some minor problems with the battery, the safety inspection of the single seater and the pilot’s equipment were carried out without any problems. After an evening of packing up and preparing to set up facilities on the circuit itself, we focused on the days ahead.

On Monday morning, our team prepared the facilities at the circuit and electrical and mechanical inspection awaited. A few minor issues were fixed overnight, and attention continued to focus on Tuesday’s static events.

Efficiency

Tuesday morning included the completion of the technical inspections and then the presentation of the static disciplines in front of the judges. In addition, all the necessary tests were successfully completed, i.e. tilt test, rain test and brake test, thus fulfilling all the requirements for participation in the dynamic disciplines. It should be noted that all the mentioned tests were passed on the first attempt.

Wednesday morning started on the test track, where the last details of the car set-up were finalized. Our drivers then successfully completed two of the four dynamic disciplines: acceleration and skid pad. After lunch, our team prepared for the autocross discipline, which both our drivers completed before 6pm, qualifying us for the main endurance discipline, which started at 11am on Thursday and was completed without problems. However, some of the top teams have failed to do this and so completing the discipline itself is a great achievement!

The evening ceremony brought great news – car number E23 eForce Prague Formula was awarded third place in the efficiency discipline and we finished fifth overall out of 38 electric teams. This achievement is truly significant as this was the first year of a brand new concept of our car. Friday was then dedicated to packing up camp and heading back to Prague, where we will prepare for the next race in the Czech Republic.

Our team eForce Prague Formula would like to thank everyone who supported us and we look forward to the next races.
