FS.13

The Monopost FS.13 is the result of two years of work during the pandemic, a period when no races took place. The CTU CarTech team, as one of the few teams to do so, chose a strategy to build a car even in the non-racing season solely for testing new components and training the service team and new drivers.

The FS.13 features a new suspension and damping system on the front axle, which isolates the tilting and vertical components of driving forces. This enables a more precise and faster setup of the car’s handling, allowing drivers to make maximum use of mechanical grip in all disciplines. Modifications to the front axle include a transition from a pullrod to a pushrod system, which freed up space in the lower part of the car and increased airflow to the aerodynamic floors and wings alongside the cockpit. Thanks to these changes and other aerodynamic package optimizations, overall downforce has been increased by up to 20.4% compared to the last car tested on the race track.

Power Unit – The Yamaha R6 motorcycle engine features custom-designed cams for an improved power curve. We’ve retained previous designs for the titanium headers and exhaust, carbon intake, and an overall reduction of 30 mm through the use of a dry sump with an external lubrication circuit. These modifications contribute to a maximum output of 64 kW, which is transmitted to the rear wheels through a new four-speed gearbox. Gear shifts are made via semi-automatic paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, which have been heavily optimized to significantly reduce shifting times. In race mode, fuel consumption reaches 18 liters per 100 km.

Low weight and low moment of inertia are critically important for a racing monopost. With the use of carbon wheels and low-profile tires, we saved up to 8 kg of rotational mass at the points farthest from the center of gravity. The total weight of the car thus stands at just 187 kg.
