We achieved extraordinary success at this year’s Formula Student Germany (FSG), one of the most prestigious engineering competitions in the world. We secured 3rd place overall and another 3rd place in the prestigious Engineering Design Event (EDE) category.
Held annually at the legendary Hockenheimring circuit in Germany, FSG is the pinnacle of student engineering and race car design. The competition brings together the best university teams from around the world to compete across a wide range of disciplines, from structural design to dynamic performance.
Throughout the competition, we faced numerous challenges, including two unplanned returns to our workshop in Prague. However, our team spirit, determination, and technical expertise led us to an impressive score of 771.29 points, securing our position as the 3rd best among the top 80 teams worldwide.
“This achievement is a huge recognition for us and a confirmation that our hard work night after night in the workshop is paying off. It was incredibly challenging, but the team demonstrated amazing resilience and adaptability,” said Jan Cába, our team captain.

During the week-long event, we successfully navigated both static and dynamic disciplines. In the Engineering Design Event (EDE) category, we advanced to the finals, competing against six other top universities from around the globe. Placing 3rd in this highly competitive field among over 80 teams underscores the exceptional design and innovation we put into this year’s car, especially given the strong competition from finalists from Zurich, Aachen, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Trondheim, and Montreal.
In addition to our success in the static disciplines, we also excelled in the dynamic tests. Highlights included our performance in the autonomous skidpad, where we achieved the fourth-fastest time, and the challenging Endurance race, where we showcased our ability to adapt to extreme conditions, reacting quickly to a sudden weather change just before the start.
“Our success in the Engineering Design Event (EDE) is especially meaningful as it validates that our technical approach to the car’s concept is world-class. We’re particularly proud because we built this year’s car from the ground up,” added Filip Klier, our technical manager.
Competing at Formula Student Germany is the pinnacle for the best engineering students worldwide, and our success at this event is not just a personal triumph for everyone involved, but also a testament to the quality of engineering education at CTU.
